The weirdest place I made a friend was at 3AM in a warehouse
You know what's mad? I've been going to hardstyle events for years and some of my closest mates now are people I met while queuing for the loo at 3AM, both of us absolutely wrecked but bonding over whether the next act would drop that one Headhunterz track. Meanwhile I live in a building with 40 flats and couldn't tell you a single neighbor's name. I think the loneliness thing isn't just about being alone - it's about having no excuse to be weird together with strangers anymore. Everything's so bloody efficient now. Order food without talking, work from home, entertainment on tap... but when do you just... exist in the same chaotic space as other humans? The raves work because everyone's there for the same mad reason, guards are down, and nobody's performing their Instagram self. We just... are. Not saying warehouse parties solve societal isolation but maybe we need more spaces where it's normal to just show up and be present without an agenda?
